Garry Kasparov and Hikaru Nakamura competed for the first time in an event put on by the Saint Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center on April 28th and 29th of 2016 . The 2-day event, titled “Ultimate Blitz Challenge”, starred Garry Kasparov along with the top 3 finishers of the 2016 U.S. Chess Championship. The 4 participants, namely Garry Kasparov, the 2016 U.S. Chess Champion Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, and Hikaru Nakamura would play a total of 6 rounds with all players playing one another once each round. The time control for each blitz chess game was 5 minutes with a 3 second delay. Highlighted in this video, without commentary, are the 6 games played between the legendary Garry Kasparov, and Hikaru Nakamura. The winner of the event was Hikaru Nakamura who topped the 4-player field with 11/18 points.

Garry would have smoked anyone in the current field may be except Magnus. I think Magnus would win tho, but would have been won by half a point or so.
Kasparov seems to be completely uninspired…
No commentary ? this sux
is very impressive how is possible play in that orrible sistem and to be so strong. i talk about nakamura, obv.
Why @7:53 white not playing his rook from c7 to c8…he can easily queen his pawn with that move…why why why..plz explain…i am missing out on something.!!😔
Smooth jazz is better 😀
In game 2 Kasparov cheated with a touch move incident. Naka noticed but didn't call him on it. He would fit right in in Washington Square park.
Thank! Спасибо!
Was game 2, move 43 a mistake by Kasparov, or was there any blunder at the end here, seemed like he should have been able to draw.
Capablanca vs Ficher next plz
the music is horrible!
This was a relaxing change of pace, watching a chess video without commentary. Just relaxing music over it, I quite enjoyed it.
why is game 1 a draw, clear loss on time…. not sure what the rules are on theses games, seems like kasparov killed the first one????
I'm pretty sure that the opening in the first game is the King's Indian Defense: Mar Del Plata Variation.
Mostly really high quality chess for blitz games, but I guess that is to be expected when two renowned blitz chess giants are involved. 🙂
Wow I really love this, I was just looking for some quick examples of pro games, I am still learning stuff. Your commentaries are also good tho, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video. Nice music. Karsparov strong!
Is no one going to comment on Nakamura's blunder @ 18:05 Game 6???
that was freaking amazing
¿alguien me dice cual es el nombre de la canción en piano que suena?, Gracias
this is very depressive for young top players of today's chess , Kasparov at 53 y.o ….20 years after his prime , beating the 2nd best blitz player in the world at the moment of this event is priceless , this Kasparov convinced the planet chess that he would destroy the new generation of chess players easily in his prime !!! now good news mr N.Short ! …it was not because of you last year , you did your best !
Sry ~but …
Do we know what Kasparov's rating is now? Or is that just not relevant? Im unsure how inactive players ratings change? It would be an even greater achievement by him if his rating was much lower than at his peak. And conversely if he is still 2812 well then how about a "friendly" game vs Carlsen?
kasparov is the greastest player in the world
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!! 😯
Kaspi in his relatively old age being inactive even since quite a couple years beats arguable the world's best blitz/bullet genius?!? WTF!?!?!?
dope video bro!
Nakamura won HOW?
thanks jerry !!!!!
Garrik is still the man!!
2:49 how is that a draw? Nakamura had less than a second left.
Great game.
i really think Kasparov would keep standing as number 1 if he played regularly.
Kasparov likes his Scotch
Jerry this is an awesome video and great music. I was cheering for Nakamura though.
My Fav Game
wow that was fun. Garry finessed Naka in the last game, but Naka's always dangerous, so Garry had to be careful to trade off and then wait patiently for a desperate blunder by Naka. Both super-great players! Thanks.
13:45 why not Check and then pawn for Queen ?
Black Rook takes Queen , White R takes R
No commentary Jerry? sad face
In game 4 why didn't White check black on the 8th rank then promote?
Why is there Minecraft music in this video?
nakamura wont lsot a game like that…i think he lost the game 6 on purpose
The more I watch Kasparov the more I think he might be the best ever. I still think Tal is the greatest attacker of all time, but Kasparov is no less imaginative and I think a better all-around player. (I'm still on the fence about who is the best, but its looking more and more like Kasparov).
how bout blacks resoponse at 8:22 re1 mate
This is unbelievable! Against non other than Naka too!
Thumbn looks like Kasparov vs Benicio del Toro
I am still really amazed by how absolutely great chess truly is, music is very fitting too
Draw? Kasparov should've flagged him, lol.
name of de song?
Double pro garry, against himself by his own "students", against nakamura on talent!
Watched this in 2x speed. Just beautiful play
