commentary are so bad looks like they are reading a script
ALIREZA FIROUZJA IS MUCH UNDERRATED BY THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE IT IS NOT WHITE, UNFORTUNATELY. THE CHESS COMMUNITY IS RACIST.
Fun tournament. Thankyou FIDE for making my holidays fun.
I think Hikaru would have won if he was allowed to play today.
Only Alireza
Good commentary!
Now the fun fact: As Nakamura has withdrawn from the blitz tournament half-way through, he is now world #1 on the FIDE rating list in blitz! Well, not exactly now but next month when FIDE updates its blitz ratings and Nakamura stays at 2851 Elo while Carlsen going down to 2832.
Many Thxs, very good commentary! Very nice following your comments. CiAO!
Congrats to all the winners of blitz and rapid tournaments. They showed amazing performance:
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, and Bibisara Assaubayeva!
And thanks for broadcasting the event and commenting on it. Thanks to GM Hammer and to GM Krush. Nice job despite technical difficulties.
Could listen to Irena’s commentary all day.
Irina is fantastic and insightful! Great show.
Tiebreak is fair; no whining!
I personally think Naka would’ve smoked the field, if he was allowed to finish the tournament. It’s insane to think he got 5th in Rapid, while playing with Covid and never lost in both Rapid and Blitz tournament. 🤯 Also, he becomes World #1 in both Rapid and Blitz once it updates in about a month. 😎
thank you for showing the womens games! Future champions are looking.
Man, what was Dubov thinking…
Champion du monde !
The fact only two play the tie break is such a blunder
Where is the crowning medals ceremony???
Dubov was leading when I went to bed, he lost all the last games
Really really enjoyed the commentary props to jon and irina
Irina, it's not Vachier but Vachier-Lagrave
firouzja was tied for 1st place, why in the hell didn't he get to compete for the title? Only 2 people can play a tie break? What kind of competition is this? What a joke. What decided those 2 to play for 1st?
Magnus played poorly.
I need time stamps!
It's simply too random who wins!!! The winner should be a worthy winner and It's not difficult to make that happen. Change the format so that after 21 games the top 4 players with the most earned points would meet in semifinals culminating in a grand finale (best out of 3 games in all finals). In the last 5 championships no more than 4 players were tied for first place after all rounds were played. FIDE needs NEW leadership!!!
Award ceremony?
Covid is a farce! Come on get real!
Great job, Jon and Irina! GM Krush did excellent co-commentary (and pronunciation!) these last few days. She's come such a long way: I still remember when Irina helped lead the voters during Kasparov vs. The World in 1999, in what was perhaps one of the earliest Internet Chess Events of its kind, probably when GM Hammer was still not even ten years of age! Nakamura remained undefeated here, except sadly by Covid. Some of the tiebreak rules were a bit strange and complicated, but players need to read the rules! I hope Hikaru gets well soon, and has a safe trip back to Los Angeles. Especially nice was the way the Women's games were mixed in very well with the Open section. It's great to see equal coverage given to both! – j q t –
2:34:51 Magnus vs Anish.
Who hired that nitwit Hammer to commentate should be terminated IMO. Feel bad for Krush having to do pretty much all of the actual game commentary while he rants like an idiot.
Nice try
5:33:45 is where the end begins.
Chess is so beautiful!
Best commentary duo in chess!!!
Both Jon and Irina made these championships so excellent.. Hope they continue to do these… Great analysis.. Love Jon's energy too! Incredible!
Bg4 from Duda was slightly frivolously

What's the name of that song, please? I really like the melodic tune of it. So relaxing.
We are still in a world wide pandemic everyone, wear masks.
What a shame in 2021 they can't provide a relay of moves. Not a rocket science guys.
And Hammer is really annoying with his ON-THE-CLOCK
